CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • Respected professional planner and City Manager with 40 years of public service, 28 at a senior level.

  • Implemented Kelowna Water Systems Integration Plan (Phase 1 - 86 Million dollar) while securing 43.9 million dollar Infrastructure Grant.

  • Fostered the creation of Active By Nature and the Okanagan Rail Trail with Kelowna City staff being the project lead.

  • Oversaw award-winning Downtown Redevelopment, Waterfront Redevelopment (Stuart Park), H2O recreation Facility and new Police Services Building as City Manager.

  • Restructured city administration to promote adaptability and flexibility.

  • Supported the creation of an analytics team to ensure fact-based recommendations.

  • Requested by the Alberta Government to assist with the 2016 Fort McMurray Wildfire.

  • Director of the Emergency Operations Centre during the Firestorm of 2003; coordinated one of the fastest large-scale evacuations in Canadian history.

  • Participant (BC), External Advisory Committee on Cities and Communities, Chaired by Mike Harcourt. (Infrastructure Canada)

  • Seconded to work with the Alberta Research Council and ESRI CANADA on prototype Municipal GIS system by the Ministerial Advisory Committee on GIS

  • Led in the creation of the Capital Region Partnership brokering support from the City of Edmonton and Strathcona County.

  • The city received FCM Sustainable Community Award for use of residential development zoning as a means to create a variety of housing options in all neighbourhoods.

  • Trained new City Councillors for Union of B.C. Municipalities Elected Officials Seminar and newly appointed Local Government Auditors.

  • MATI Instructor – Community Planning for Municipal Professionals and The Successful C.A.O. Course. Municipal Administrator’s Training Institute (“MATI”) programs are professional development courses offered by Capilano University in partnership with the Local Government Management Association of BC (LGMA).
